Welcome and Introductions
I just realised we didnt have an introduce yourself topic, so here it is. For those of us from the old boards, dont bother, but anyone new should say hello.

hullo
I'm sure I can't be the first person to join this forum since this topic was posted in November!! But maybe so...
Anyhow, thought I'd do the right thing and say hullo. Apart from a single game of WHFB at Christmas with my brother in Melbourne, I haven't played a game with miniatures for around 8 years or so (certainly not since moving to Canberra in 2000), but am now getting at least back into the painting side, and hopefully I'll get a few games in too! Started painting 40k Tau a few months ago to ease myself back into it (not that I've ever played 40k before!!), and more recently have become attracted to the Warmachine world, so have picked up a heap of cygnar and am slowly working out how to paint them (there just seems to be a much more demanding level of standard of painting for WM (or perhaps reading Brushthralls has just scared me!!!)). Also have a bunch of tyranids that I picked up, but it's going to be ages before I get started painting them up! So anyhow, that's me, and hullo! Give me a month or so and I'll likely be looking for a game of warmachine to see whether the game matches the standards of the miniatures (so nice!!!). Also probably need to give the Tau a run. Not sure of the wargaming scene in Canberra, but this forum is certainly a good start to try and find some other like-minded individuals! -David... |

I'd be happy to give you a training run of Warmachine (I'm Cygnar too). If you work in the city some of us meet at lunchtime at LC (Logical Choice) to play either Warmachine, Hordes or Mordheim - check out the other treads if you're interested! 8) "I'm no Physician, but there appears to be a dagger through my chest." -Richard Looking for Group "How about you take a few ranks in Kiss My Ass?" -Belkar Bitterleaf OOTS |

Thanks guys - look forward to getting a few games in in the near future. Unfortunately I'm at Russell, so getting in some lunchtime games will be difficult (well, getting a carpark afterwards will be difficult anyhow!), but am certainly keen on taking up emplion's offer to get a training run (or two!) of warmachine (once I focus on painting up more than warcasters!!!).
Dano - I'll try not to disappoint you! (I'm already itching to start a menoth army, and I haven't even painted up my cygnar yet!) Give a man a fire and he's warm for a day. But set fire to him and he's warm for the rest of his life. Terry Pratchett, Discworld Fight my brute! I dare you! http://maestrosaurus.mybrute.com . .

Dano - its rather rude to set people you have just met on fire.
Maestro - I am in R1. Parking does indeed bite in the afternoons, but I always find a spot ...sure its usually down on the other side of ASIO. I am only aware of 2 Cryx players in CBR.
That said I was once strongly tempted to start a Menoth force. Then - after I read the rules and realised how absurdly overpowered and cheezy - the were I turned away from them

Well, I have to say there aren't really any WM factions that don't appeal (well, maybe not Khador for some reason (sorscha and the widowmakers excepted of course!), but I just love that Harbinger model... (kinda like how the gun mages dragged me into cygnar). And from reading the rules (albeit not playing a game yet!!!), it kinda feels like cryx and khador have their share of overpowered units... but maybe this is the wrong thread to be having this discussion!!!! My motivations were largely based on what models I liked (as said, really like that Harbinger model!!!).
But that's all academic at this stage - still got some tau, a cygnar, and a hell of a lot of nids to paint up first (not that unpainted models have held me back thus far!!!) Give a man a fire and he's warm for a day. But set fire to him and he's warm for the rest of his life. Terry Pratchett, Discworld Fight my brute! I dare you! http://maestrosaurus.mybrute.com . .

New Tau codex is very drool worthy. Networked Markerlights! what will they think of next??
At least there are more than the four variations of the same army for Tau now that you'd see at every gaming club

We only have a few here in Syd that I can find. oh and if anyone knows any gamers in Sydney I could use the games!! |
