took the site down for a few hours today to get a backup done, and ended up bringing us up to date with the commercial version of the forum software.

Now, I'm not sure if it's just me, but when I open up the forum, it marks old topics as having new replies, despite the last date shown being days/weeks/months ago.

Its not just you. I have hte same problem but have been getting around it by hitting the 'view todays posts' link at the top/left.

Issaxs - Are we going to get a working shoutbox?

ok, happy to admit that it's likely user error, but I seem to have lost a lot of the functions in this new forum - eg the button to post images or links, the ability to quote other messages, etc? All I have are a bunch of smiley tick-boxes (well, tick-circles).

I also seem to have a lot of those white boxes with the red crosses all over the place that you usually get when there's a problem with a picture?

Shoutbox is not on the horizon anytime soon. its not a core function

Looking into the issues with the quotes etc, give me a week or so to play around/reinstall if needed.

The old posts/threads marked as new is a DB issue as the DB had a upgrade to match the new version of the forums. so for some reason the timestamps got updated...

Ive also killed a few items functionality wise while I clean up the posting and logging in issues.

I don't get the "missing image" icon either. But I do have problems with not being logged in automatically when I first visit the site. I have a bookmark for http://defiantgaming.com/forum/ but it doesn't recognise me until I click on Login, and then I automagically appear as logged in (without having to enter my credentials).

Given these issues, would it be a good idea to just blow everything away and start from scratch? Or is that not feasible?

hmm, maybe it is just me then! But it's also doing it on the computer here at the qantas club, so it's not just my ineptness with my home computer!

'nother question, when I start a new thread, I get the following error message:
